Halifax is the capital of the province of Nova Scotia, which is located on the east coast of Canada. Situated almost exactly halfway between the Equator and the North Pole it is a major economic centre in eastern Canada with a large concentration of government services and private sector companies. Who we are
Glen Hougan is principal of Wellspan Research and Design. He is product/service designer with a background in the area of human factors, healthcare and medical design, design for an aging population, and co design research methods.
Glen also teaches product design at NSCAD University (Nova Scotia College of Art and Design) where he is lead researcher in the Design Lab in Health and Aging. In 2012 he was awarded the first ever Research Fellowship in Healthcare Innovations from the Center for Innovation (CFI), at the Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota. In 2010 he was made the first ever Sun Life Financial Chair in Design in Health and Aging. His research and work in this area of design, health and aging has garnered national and international attention. He was recently featured in the Wall Street Journal on the PBS series Life Part 2, ABC Good Morning America’s Health Watch, the CBC radio program Spark, and profiled in the Atlantic University’s Life Changers series.
